Graptopetalum Paraguayense
The Ghost Plant is one of those succulents that feels almost ethereal — soft pastels, rosette leaves, and a gentle shimmer that changes with the light. It’s a wonderfully low-maintenance plant that brings a dreamy, desert-garden feel to shelves, windowsills, and small arrangements.
Light & Temperature:
Ghost Plants thrive in bright sun and can handle several hours of direct light each day. Indoors, a south or west window is ideal. Outdoors, they enjoy full sun with light afternoon shade in very hot climates. They prefer warm temperatures and should be protected from frost.
Watering:
Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. When you do water, soak the soil thoroughly and let excess water drain away — these plants hate sitting in moisture. Overwatering is the only real way to hurt them.
Feeding:
Feed lightly once during spring or early summer with a diluted succulent fertilizer. They don’t need much to stay happy.
Repotting Tips:
Repot every 1–2 years or whenever the rosette outgrows the container. Use a gritty succulent mix, loosen the roots gently, and avoid watering for 3–5 days after repotting to prevent root rot.
Propagation:
Ghost Plants are famously easy to propagate. A single leaf placed on dry soil can sprout roots and form a new rosette.
Fun Fact:
The leaves change color depending on sunlight — pinkish in bright light, bluish in softer light.
